CORTLAND, NY – The Crush fell in heartbreaking fashion to the Syracuse Spartans 8-7 on Thursday night.
Cortland had its bats working all night with 14 hits and three triples. Evan O’Rourke led the team with three hits while Nick Mahar, Jake Freed, and Max Cairo each had two hits.
Sean Moynihan Jr. drove in two runs while Eric Giarnese, Naythen Ruehs, Mahar, and Freed each had one RBI.
Cregg Scherrer went five strong innings allowing one unearned run, on just one hit, four walks, and five strikeouts. John DeCoste, Garrett Montgomery, Scott Scherrer, and Eric Fields each saw time with Montgomery receiving the loss.
Cortland (15-11) will head to Syracuse, NY to take on the Spartans at Onondaga Community College in a doubleheader with game one beginning at 5 p.m.
