Cortland NY – The Crush fell to the Silversmiths in heartbreaking fashion at home on Monday night by a final score of 6-5.
Sherrill got on the board first in the top of the first inning and added one more in each of the third and fifth innings.
Cortland would answer in the bottom of the fifth inning when Robby Harrison walked and got to second on a passed ball before Jamison Howland delivered with a RBI single to get the Crush on the board.
Zach Young then hit a single to move Howland to third and a hit by pitch to Ryne McKinney loaded the bases. Jake Freed was then walked with the bases loaded to make it a 3-2 ballgame.

Jake Freed then smacked a triple of his own to deep right center field that scored two and gave Cortland a 4-3 lead. Carson Molinaroli then drove in Freed to make it 5-3.
Cortland would hold onto the lead until Sherrill scored three in the top of the ninth to take the lead and despite a late rally Cortland was unable to comeback and dropped the game by a score of 6-5.
