CORTLAND, NY – The Crush extended their winning streak to four after beating the Sherrill Silversmiths 3-1 on Thursday night.
Sean Monyihan and Ryan Wynn combined for four of the team’s seven hits on the evening while Monyihan also had an RBI.
Louis Percival and Max Cairo each tallied a base knock while Nick Ianniello had the big two run single in the 2nd inning to give Cortland the lead in his first at bat of the season.
On the bump Sal D’Anna went four innings on two hits, with one earned runs, on six walks with four strikeouts. John Igoe pitched two innings allowing just one hit with two walks and two strikeouts and was able to work his way out of multiple jams.
Cregg Scherrer was phenomenal in his Crush debut pitching three shutout innings with zero hits, two walks, and six strikeouts to collect the win.
Cortland (7-1) will host the Rochester Ridgemen tomorrow in a doubleheader with game one beginning at 11 a.m. at Gutchess Field and game two starting at 5 p.m. at Wallace Field at SUNY Cortland.
