Cortland NY – The Crush dropped to the Silversmiths by a final score of 10-6 from Wallace Field at SUNY Cortland.
The Silversmiths would strike first by scoring one run in the top of the first inning and would extend the lead out to 4-0 with a three run inning in the top of the fifth.
The Crush would respond and tie the game back up with a 4 run inning in the bottom of the fifth that was started when Grayson Saltzer would reach on an error. Max Atkinson then placed a single into right field and Zach Masnikoff would follow suit to load the bases for Jamison Howland.
Howland would hit a single into right field that scored both Saltzer and Atkinson to make it 4-2. Nick Mahar then hit a single to score Masnikoff and then a double steal with runners at the corner allowed Howland to score and tie the ballgame.
Sherrill retook the lead with a 4 run inning in the top of the eighth and a 2 run inning in the top of the ninth to make it 10-4 heading into the final at bats for the Crush.
Cortland staged a late rally when Robby Harrison and Zach Masnikoff reached on a pair of singles. Jake Freed then drove in Harrison with a single of his own and after Ryne McKinney walked the bases were loaded.
Carson Molinaroli was hit by a pitch to drive in a run to bring the final score up to 10-6 in favor of Sherrill.
Cortland is back in NYCBL action on Sunday at Rochester for the continuation of the game on June 17th and the originally scheduled game for that day.
