Crush vs. Salt Cats – The Streak Continues – 12-1

SYRACUSE, NY – The Cortland Crush won their third straight ball game after beating the Syracuse Salt Cats 12-1 in seven innings due to a mercy rule.

Ty Clifton led the way for the Crush going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Jake Freed continued his hot start to the season collecting two more hits and driving in a pair.

Aaron Izquerido, also had a pair of hits and drove in one. Naythan Ruehs and Lucas Orlovitz each drove in one run and had one hit in the contest.

On the mound, Kevin Worek was tremendous pitching 6.0 innings on two hits with zero runs, three walks, and seven strikeouts. Nick Ianniello closed the door in the seventh with two punch outs.

The two starters were phenomenal for each team as it was scoreless after six innings. The Crush got it going in the 7th with an excellent inning where the team plated 12 runs.

Cortland (6-1) will return home to host Olean on Monday, June 12 in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
