Crush vs Salt Cats – Recap – 4-4 

Cortland NY –  The Crush and Salt Cats dueled to a 4-4 tie at the Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex. Cortland was aided by a stellar performance on the mound from their starter Harry Tavella. 

Tavella would pitch five scoreless innings allowing just four hits and striking out three Salt Cat batters. Cortland found the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning and again in the bottom of the third. Jake Freed walked and Jamison Howland delivered a single to right field before Matt Doherty walked to load the bases. 

Max Atkinson would deliver by dropping a single into center field that scored both Freed and Howland. In the bottom of the third Ryne McKinney would notch a two out base hit and Jake Freed would follow suit with a single of his own. Jamison Howland then drove the two in with a single to give the Crush a 4-0 lead. 

Syracuse would score two in the top of the sixth inning and two more in the top of the eighth to tie the game and the Crush bats were unable to answer and the game went to extra innings. 

Abi Sosa pitched two scoreless innings to give the Crush a chance in the bottom of the tenth inning however a lineout turned into a double play to end the game in a tie. 

With the tie Cortland moves its record to 4-4-1 while Syracuse is 6-2-1. Cortland is in action once again tomorrow this time on the road at Sherrill.
