Crush vs Ridgemen – Recap – 14-1 – 16-0

Rochester NY – The Crush dropped a pair of ball games to the Rochester Ridgeman on Sunday evening.

The first game was a continuation of June 17ths game that was postponed after 2 and a half innings. The Crush were the home team in that contest and play resumed with them down 6-1 in the bottom of the third.

Cortland wasn’t able to get anything going in the rest of that ballgame and Rochester was able to walk away with a 14-1 victory in that game. Game two started shortly after and Rochester got out to an early 1-0 lead after one inning.

Cortland would get their lead off batter Thomas Woodridge on with a blood single and a stolen base but he was stranded there in the top of the first.

Jack Coogan would get on with a leadoff single in the top of the second inning and wound up on second with a passed ball but was ultimately stranded there as well.

Cortland’s best offensive inning came in the fourth when Jack Coogan got on with an infield single and a walk to Grayson Saltzer put two on before Rochester got out of the inning.

Rochester would get their offense rolling in game two as they scored 16 runs on 18 hits and their starting pitcher Ethan Slowik gave their bullpen a day off pitching a 7 inning shutout striking out 12 batters.

Cortland is back on the road tomorrow for a 7:00 game against the Salt Cats at Onondaga Community College.
