Cortland NY – The Cortland Crush fell to the Rochester Ridgemen by a final score of 11-5. The game started out as a back and forth slugfest between the two heavy hitting before the Ridgemen took control.
Rochester would score two runs in the top of the first to take an early lead. Cortland would then respond in the bottom of the second. Grayson Saltzer walked to lead off the inning and Jack Coogan hit a single into center field to put two on with no one out. After Joe Manesiotis walked to load the bases, a pass ball allowed Saltzer to score and put the Crush on the board.
Rochester would respond with one of their own in the top of the third before the crush would take the lead in the bottom of the frame. Zach Young and Grayson Saltzer smacked singles to lead off the inning and Jack Coogan walked to load the bases.
Robby Harrison would hit a deep fly out to center field for a sacrifice fly that plated Young and advanced Saltzer to third. Joe Manesiotis then scored both Saltzer and Coogan with an two RBI single.
Rochester would score two in the top of the fourth to retake the lead but the Crush would respond by adding another run to tie the game in the bottom of the frame. Tanner Warren would walk to lead off the bottom of the fourth and after being advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jamison Howland a double off the bat of Zach Young would plate him.
From there the Crush bats went cold as Braden Hamilton pitched 5 innings of shutout relief for the Ridgemen. Rochester added on four runs in the sixth and two more in the ninth to finalize their 11-5 victory.
Cortland plays again tomorrow at home vs the Syracuse Salt Cats. First pitch in that game is scheduled for 12:00
