CORTLAND, NY – The Crush fell to the Rochester Ridgemen 2-0 in game one of their doubleheader. The Ridgemen were the home team in game one as it was a makeup from June 14.
It was an absolute pitcher’s duel as both starting pitchers went at least five innings in the contest. Vince Dolcemaschio earned the loss after allowing just one earned run, on five hits, with one walk and four strikeouts over five innings of work. Casey Wilkins pitched an inning allowing one unearned run on zero hits and zero walks.
Jake Blozy went 2-for-3 in the contest while Aaron Izquerido had a single in the top of the 7th. Eric Giarnese had the sole extra base hit for the Crush with a roping triple down the right field line after making an incredible diving catch in the bottom of the previous inning.
Cortland (7-3) will face Rochester in game two of the doubleheader today at 5 p.m. at Wallace Field at SUNY Cortland.
