Crush Vs. Hornell – Recap – 6-5

CORTLAND, NY – The Crush continued their perfect season picking up a doubleheader sweep over the Hornell Steamers on Wednesday.

Game 1: Cortland 12, Hornell 2 (7 inn.)

Louis Percival was fantastic going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored. Jake Blozy continued his hot start to the season driving in two more runs while Jack Coogan and Sean Donovan also drove in a pair in the contest.

Evan O’Rourke, Sean Moynihan, Nathyan Ruehs, and Sean Desjardins each drove in one RBI. Blozy, Coogan, and Ryan Wynn all recorded multi-hit games and led the charge for the Crush offense which posted 13 hits and 12 runs.

On the mound, Vincent Dolcemashio threw well pitching five innings on six hits, allowing two earned runs, with one walk, while striking out five.

Hornell struck first grabbing a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning yet the Crush responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame. The Crush offense was incredible posting two runs in the 1st, one in the 2nd, and then a remarkable nine in the 3rd inning.

The Cortland bullpen was fantastic allowing just one run and was mowing down the Steamers offense.

Game 2: Cortland 6, Hornell 5 (7 inn.)

Percival was the hero yet again going 3-for-3 with 3 RBI including the walk-off hit scoring Ryan Wynn to help the Crush remain perfect on the season.

Jake Freed had a clutch pinch hit RBI while Lucas Orlovitz continued to be an on base machine and also drove in a run in the game. O’Rourke continued his great day at the plate tallying two more hits in the game.

Hornell struck first yet again in the 1st, yet the Crush responded with two in the bottom half of the inning to take a 2-1 lead. The Steamers added three more in the 2nd, yet the Crush continued chipping away and scored another run in the bottom of the inning.

Cortland continued chipping away scoring two in the bottom of the 5th to take a 5-4 lead, yet the Steamers tied the game in the 6th. But, the Crush continued to stay clutch and won it in the bottom of the 7th to secure its second walk off in three games this season.

Cortland (3-0) continue their opening homestand hosting the Rochester Ridgemen on Thursday, June 8 at 6 p.m.
