Crush vs. Genesee Rapids (DH) – 15-17 | 5 – 3

CORTLAND, NY – The Crush fell in a high scoring game 17-15 to the Genesee Rapids in game one of their doubleheader. Cortland fell behind 14-4 yet scored 10 runs in the 6th, 7th to tie the game in a miraculous comeback to force extra innings. Yet, the Rapids scored three in extras to Cortland’s one and hung on for a 17-15 win.

The Crush had 17 hits and Evan O’Rourke and Max Cairo each tallied three hits. The bottom three hitters of the Cortland lineup combined for six hits and Naythen Ruehs had his best game of the season collecting two hits and driving in five.

Six pitchers saw time on the bump and Adam Schwartz was fine in relief yet received the loss after the Rapids late rally.

Cortland (7-5) will take on Genesee in game two of the doubleheader later this evening with first pitch scheduled for around 7 p.m.

CORTLAND, NY – The Crush snapped their losing streak with a convincing 5-3 win in game two of their doubleheader over the Genesee Rapids.

Nick Mahar and Sean Moynihan Jr. each tallied two hits and one RBI in the contest. Ty Clifton continues to swing a hot bat going 1-for-3 and driving in another run.

Evan O’Rourke, Eric Giarnese, Jack Coogan and Zack Sperger each collected one hit.

Kevin Worek was sensational on the hill pitching a complete seven inning game on three earned runs, with five hits, four walks, and one strikeout to pick up the win. The ace was inducing plenty of soft contact and infield pop ups which allowed him to pitch the entire game.

Cortland (8-5) will hit the road to face the Rochester Ridgemen on Thursday, June 22 at 6 p.m.
